Description: Have you ever seen those large scale armors in cosplay photos and wondered how they did it? It must be so expensive and heavy, right? Wrong! In this course, you will learn the very basics of foamsmithing! Foamsmithing is the process of turning flat foam sheets into props and wearable pieces that are super lightweight! In this beginning class we will learn how to make a 2D mask with 3D elements. By utilizing these skills you will soon be able to make all the costumes from your favorite video games, movies, TV shows, and more!
Teacher Bio: Natalie Beck is a published & award-winning costume artist, model, and photographer with over nine years experience. Specializing in original designs, foam smithing, thermoplastics, headdresses, and armor.
April 27 - Session 1: Introduction, Safety Brief, Pick Patterns, Cut out, Glue, And Sculpt (Allow minimum 2 days to dry.
May 4 - Session 2: Seal, Paint, Seal, Discuss Attachment Styles.
Supplies: All supplies included, but students are more than welcome to bring a notebook, pen, and pencil for sketching their ideas.
